Most businesses do not know that 1 in 7 people in the U.S. has a disability that impacts their mobility. An ADA-compliant restroom is insufficient for all people with mobility limitations, including veterans, seniors, adults and children with disabilities, and their caregivers. This segment of the population avoids businesses and events because the restrooms are not truly accessible.

Momentum Refresh is an innovative mobile solution that is the first of its kind in the U.S. for restroom equity at public venues that is safe, sanitary, and comfortable for assisted changing.

Refresh is founded on the principle that every part of the community should be accessible to every citizen. Every member has an equal right to access public resources, share in opportunities and responsibilities, and provide input to the “standard” that defines accessibility. Hygiene and sanitation are foundational to daily health and active participation within the community; thus, Momentum seeks to ensure that all people can access restroom and personal care facilities wherever they may spend time in their community, regardless of ability or disability.

Now that our communities around the world have contended with additional health concerns such as COVID-19, impeccably maintained restrooms with facilities that meet the needs of people who require more accommodations than a minimally compliant ADA facility provides become even more necessary. In addition to the issue of accessibility within the greater community, it is a personal health issue that must be addressed to ensure everyone’s rights.

There’s a need for truly accessible restrooms

ADA compliant restrooms only address the needs of 40% of all people with disabilities. Therefore, the accessibility gap is greater than most realize. Currently, LAX is the only location known within LA County with restrooms that offer enhanced accessibility through the provision of an adult-sized changing table.
  • On a local level, libraries, parks, job centers, employers, and large retailers all lack this level of accommodation. Further still, the lack of a hydraulic hoist lift to support safe transfer is an amenity that has still not been achieved within the public sector.
  • The Refresh mobile restroom is the first option that has been developed to meet this need for individuals, and their caregivers, who are unable to use, or would struggle with, standard accessible public restrooms.
  • As a portable solution that can be conveniently placed or moved to meet the highest need, Refresh has the capacity to bridge this gap in accessibility and safety at a reasonable price point.

Renters need to make sure that
designated site requirements for the
vehicle meets the following
specifications:

  • Vertical height clearance of 12’ 6” required
  • Designated area is flat and dry
  • Minimum dimensions for designated area: 35 feet x 25 feet
  • Access to an electrical outlet within 50 feet from vehicle is helpful not necessary
  • Area of Momentum Refresh must be safe and easily accessible for wheelchair users and within proximity to entrances/exits and other restrooms available to guests to the venue

Adult Changing Table
Height-adjustable powered changing table provides a versatile solution suitable for individuals of all ages and sizes, providing customized access for changing or personal care needs.
Ceiling Hoist

A powered ceiling hoist is available to ensure the secure and safe transfer of a person from their wheelchair to the changing table and/or toilet. Note that slings are not provided.

Guests who want to use this amenity may bring any sling of their own. All slings with loop attachments are compatible with our hoist.

Fully Adjustable Utilities

Height and width adjustable grab bars offer flexible support tailored to individual needs, while a powered height-adjustable sink ensures ease of access and convenience.

Peninsular Toilet & Bidet

The peninsular toilet comes equipped with a bidet which provides a more inclusive option for personal hygiene while enhancing independence and cleanliness.

Under-Vehicle Lift

A motorized platform lift is installed beneath the van to assist people with mobility limitations in effortlessly accessing Refresh from ground level.

Professionally Trained Staff

Each Refresh rental boasts a dedicated team of trained professionals who meticulously clean the space after each use. Our welcoming staff inform guests about amenities, are on hand to answer any questions and strive to ensure each guest leaves completely satisfied with their experience.
